Shrugging, specifically...

Why do it

The number one reason to shrug is...it is time to quit giving sanction to those who are creating a world that is becoming harder and harder to live in.  In a very real sense you are a victim.  You may not think you are but if you are trying to lead a rational life you are in fact being victimized.

The entire concept Sanction of the Victim is one that will take some time to absorb, but when you do – and everyone does eventually – you will want to take the action we describe as shrugging.

In the language of the street, it is called “quit being a chump".

Simply, there is no other way to stop this national suicide.  If we wait on a democratic solution where the majority of voters will vote for free market capitalism, your grandchildren will be living under more statism than we experience today.  Please witness the 52% voter majority the liberals achieved in the 2012 elections.

What is it

The first three areas we will look at are:

1) Regulations and working for their defunding and eventual repeal.
2) Crony business people; how to identify them and how to combat the damage they do.
3) The Federal Reserve Banking System; why it is the root of the welfare state, why liberals and most conservatives love it and how to work to abolish it.  And how much it costs each citizen over a lifetime.

How to do it

We are not moving to Ouray, Colorado (Galt's Gulch).  We, all of us, are staying put and shrugging by being much, much more activist.  Some of us have been Objectivists since Atlas Shrugged was published in 1957.  We have debated in coffee shops and now on the Internet for over 50 years.  It is now time to stop talking and start doing.  It is time to shrug.

Please watch this space for more and more specifics and how to do it.

What has to happen

"When the psychological reasons are fully understood and they are overwhelmingly overcome as to why
intelligent people when fully and intellectually informed about Objectivism still do not reject altruism
then and only then will Objectivism flourish."   Cameron Craig
